Over the past year, I’ve become increasingly enamored with marble. Marble looks good with everything. When I was little, I used to look up at the green marble paneling in my dad’s office and wonder how a stone could be so beautiful. Marble is, frankly, awesome – it’s a classic and understated way to add some sheen to just about any object you can imagine. My slight obsession with marble culminated the other day when, wouldn’t you know it, I stumbled into an Urban Outfitters and came across a gorgeous, marbled journal. I looked at it covetously for a few seconds before realizing I could totally make that. Even better, I could totally make that using my favorite journal of all time. Win-win, right? So I went home and made myself a little DIY marble moleskine, and let me tell you, this is one of my favorite projects of all time.
Another plus: Moleskines are fantastic – they’re sturdy, fit perfectly in your hand or bag, and are minimalist enough to appeal to pretty much every type of person. Also, the paper quality is phenomenal – smooth and non-porous, so ink dries quickly and doesn’t bleed through. Squared moleskines are perfect for bullet journaling, too, so this is a great DIY for personalizing your bullet journal. If you’re not already riding the moleskine train, now might be a good time to get on.
This project is awesome because it’s so easy to finish – all you need is some marble contact paper, a pencil, some scissors, and a flat edge. The DIY marble moleskine takes a grand total of 5 minutes start to finish, and you end up with a beautiful new DIY marble journal ready to be filled with all of your plans/hopes/dreams.
Also new this week – I’ve started a newsletter (yay!), and subscribers get access to an exclusive DIY project every month plus an entire library of cool free content (DIY, recipes, bullet journal tips, you name it).
