Observed & Reported

One. These past two weeks, I’ve been mostly occupied with exploring this (kind of) new city of mine. So far, I’ve discovered a new favorite ice cream spot, a secret park where I can go and read a book in peace, and so many coffee shops that I could try a new one every day and still not see all of them. It’s bananas. It’s been a lot of excitement, mixed in with a lot of trepidation and a lot of moving around. It’s been fun, but I find myself longing for some stability. A routine would, in all honestly, be very nice right now.

Two. I’ve realized that every once in a while, the best way to blow off some steam is to goof off. I’ve had so much fun hanging out with this weirdo that I feel oddly recharged, which is especially useful considering how exhausted I was at the end of our European adventure. Life is never boring with guy, which is pretty great.

Three. In the midst of the craziness of moving in, settling down, and endless exploration, it’s easy to forget how much the little things matter. A long chat with an old friend, breakfast in bed, bringing home random and beautiful  flowers at the end of a long day – It’s the small stuff that makes a home and a life. If you focus even a minor amount of your attention on the details, you’ll be surprised by how much happier you are at the end of the day.

What are you thinking about today? Oh, and happy weekend :)

I’d love to hear what your new favorites are! We should try out a new coffee shop together. =]

BEST IDEA EVER? Yes & yes. My favorite is the station on Kearny — they serve blue bottle coffee!!
